Welcome

This site is being launched because I (Ahmie) have become the "go-to" information person for so many of my friends, both in real life and online, so I figured compiling everything into one place would make life a little less... repetitive. ;)

It also meant I could finally give myself a really easy to spell email address - just call me "mom" at this domain name and it'll forward to my current REAL email account (currently and for the foreseeable future a gmail address because of their wonderful spam filtering).

So why "NEEDNAP"? Well, aside from being a "naptime activist" (and lactivist aka breastfeeding/lactation activist), NEEDNAP is short-form for Nurturing Educated and Empowered Decisions in Natural Attachment Parenting. Yes, I have way too much free time on my hands (at least mentally, my actual hands are quite full with two small children at home all day!).

This site will become a place to find my own very logical/social researcher mindset stance on various parenting topics, as well as links to other sites that have more information (I'm not gonna duplicate what's already been done if I don't need to). Since I've been often accused of being very fair-minded when it comes to different perspectives, I hope that I am able to provide that kind of balance here so that, whatever decisions parents make, I can give them a little help making sure they're INFORMED choices. That's all I really hope for.

I'm happy to have contributions from others, so if you've got a topic you'd like to help me cover, shoot me an email and help me write it up. I'm notorious for losing track of linear time, so if it doesn't occur to me to write about it and post it, it won't be here until it does or someone nudges/pulls me in that direction.

Best of luck on all your parenting adventures!
